Jo Leen Yap is the leader of the Langur Project Penang (LPP), a conservation program for langurs. As a a promising young primatologist, she would carry out her mission for observation in sweat along her telescope, navigation system and notepad into the forest that most people would choose to stay away from, in order to save the endangered primate langurs. The chivalrous “monkey woman” who was rescued by shy yet adorable white-eyed langurs before, relied on long hours observation to record and study langurs, who are way lesser-known than chimpanzees and orangutans, in order to understand how langurs endure the shattered habitat and the dynamic coexistence between humans and animals.
