About TED

TED is: Technology•Entertainment•Design

TED is a global set of conferences curated by an American private non-profit organization called: Sapling Foundation, It is formed to disseminate “ideas worth spreading”. Since 2007, the talks have been offered for free viewing online, under a Creative Commons license, through TED.com. More than 700 talks are currently available. As of April 2009, the talks have been viewed over 250 million times by more than 25 million people.

They address an increasingly wide range of topics within the research and practice of science and culture. The speakers are given a maximum of 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can.

What is TEDx?

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection within a small group.

These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TEDxSalon

A TEDxSalon event is an intimate affair, like a dinner party with people who are like minded, like yourself. It is a half day event unlike a full day TEDx event, it allows better interactivity with the speakers – with Q & A after each session, whilst stimulating conversations on a personal level and forms a stronger bond. It also keeps the TEDx community engaged between regular TEDx events.

TEDxSalon will giving each speaker 18 mins to share their ideas & also open the discussion session to audiences.
